Last week we were planning on how to build a sleep out. This was one of the hardest things to do in this course. First we were split in to groups of two. Our team leaders were Brandon and Lynol. I was in Brandon’s team the A team. First we mark the area where our sleep out will go. Second we set out our ground plates. Then we set out our floor joist which it took us 2 days to do when it was only a 4 hour job. Then we measure were our floor joist is going.

1. Top plate and bottom plate
2. Studs
3. Under studs
4. Double studs
5. Nogs
6. Lintel

The frame of a wall gives it the strength to stand up and hold the exterior covering. The main parts of a wall frame are the top plate, the bottom plates and the studs.. The sole plate is the bottom horizontal member. The studs are the vertical members that make up the largest part of the wall frame. Lintel is to support load of roof. A stud is to support the roof framing. Angle brace is to keep the frame square. The bottom plates is for the studs to sit on.
